Good morning! Isn't this such an exciting time? Today starts the previews of the new sets being released by Waltzingmouse Stamps on May 1. Five new sets are being released this month, and each is more fantastic than the next. Today Claire and the Design Team will be sharing previews of a new background set, Gingham & Co.
As the name implies, there is more to this set than just gingham patterns. I used the reverse polka dot image to create my background pattern. As with all of the WMS background stamps, they are larger than a typical card size, so there's no need to try and line up the edges. Having a piece of foam or a mousepad handy to add some extra cushion while you're stamping is helpful, too!
I stamped the reverse polka dots in white ink onto Kraft cardstock. Isn't this look so soft and yummy? Speaking of yummy, this is the largest of the gingham patterns in the set. I love how it adds such a vintage country feel to things. The pansies and sentiment are from the Afternoon Tea Sentiments set.
The pansies were colored with Copic markers and cut out. You might also see a little sneak peek there of another set we'll feature later this weekend!
Next, some simple gift packaging that would be great for Mom!
I upcycled a tea tin and added some gingham-stamped paper to create a little gift. I chose a light and dark colored purple to work with, and then added a medium colored purple ribbon to finish it off.
To create my tag, I punched a circle from a post it note to serve as a mask. Then I stamped the gingham pattern and removed the mask. Then I used a larger circle to cut out the tag, leaving the little gingham border around the outside. Pretty, isn't it? The sentiment is another new one :)
And a shot of the goodies, which are almost just as important as the packaging - especially when we're talking Cadbury chocolates!
I must confess, I've saved my favorite card for last. Pinwheels are popping up everywhere now, and inspired by a photo I saw on Pinterest, I knew I needed some gingham pinwheels.
I must confess, I've saved my favorite card for last. Pinwheels are popping up everywhere now, and inspired by a photo I saw on Pinterest, I knew I needed some gingham pinwheels.
*Happy sigh* :)
I started by stamping the gingham pattern onto some scrap cardstock and then punched bits out with a square punch. I also punched out some plain squares. I trimmed these in half to create the pinwheel pattern and after assembling, I stitched it all together. The final size of this card is 5-1/4 inches square.
I added a strip of cardstock to the bottom that I had stamped with some new sentiments. I liked the phrase-building capabilities - you'll see more later!
SO?! What do you think? I'd love to hear! Here are links to the other DT ladies sharing their previews... I can't wait to see what they've made!
