WMS July Release Day 3

Hi there!

Well, we are almost there! Today is Day 3 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps July release and tomorrow the four sets we've been previewing will be available for sale.

The set we are previewing today is called My Island. Oh, I love love love this set. I have four cards to share and a lot of pictures, so make sure you have a beverage, make yourself comfortable, and I'll keep the chit chat to a minimum :)

I couldn't resist the opportunity to create another inky sunset. I also used some of the images from Way Out West again. Doesn't the mountain range image resemble a cloud bank?

Love the detail on these palm trees. I think Claire was checking out my trip photos from Wakatobi when she created this set! ;)

This next card was based on today's new WMS Sketch:

The set contains this distressed, vintage looking rectangle, which is a great base for stamping some of the other images. Here I used the small island of palm trees. The distressed oval frame is also included and coordinates so nicely with the Standard Ovals Large from Spellbinders.

I had the little shell in my stash - I think I found it on the beach with the hole in it already - truly! Isn't the styling of the sentiments so fun? It is a fantastic font combination.

For this card, I started by stamping three little scenes using some of the different images in the My Island set. Here you can see the sun rays, the coordinating land (or water) image, and some of the other little additions.

I used my Silhouette and created this polaroid-type frame shape (ok, maybe more like an Instax) to put my 'pictures' in. I stamped a different sentiment on the bottom of each.

Here is a close up of each:

So. much. fun.

And now for something a little different.

I used the sun ray image from My Island and stamped it bottom to bottom to create this fun sunburst. Adding the die cut oval frame on top covers up where the two images come together and is just plain fun!

I used an image from tomorrow's set (which happens to be mine!) but it will give you no hints whatsoever as to what it is ;) This yellow/gray/teal color combination is delicious.

Well congratulations if you've made it this far! I really had tons of fun with this set and look forward to using it in conjunction with some other WMS sets.

I hope you're ready for even more inspiration! Here are the rest of my fellow DT girls for today:

See you tomorrow for the Release Blog Waltz!

WMS July Release Day 2

Morning!

Thank you for joining me today to see what is next for the July release at Waltzingmouse Stamps. Yesterday we introduced the Fairy Princess set in the new 3x4 inch set size. Today we are sharing another mini set called North Shore.

In the spirit of full disclosure, when I first saw this set I loved the artwork but wasn't quite sure how I was going to use it. I didn't know if I could make it 'work' on a card. But ohmygoodness, I inked it up and it was awesome!

I love the classic vintage surfer vibe of this one!

So this month Claire is also offering a slew of electronic cut files that coordinate with some of the sets. On this card, I actually utilized the negative cardstock that I had cut my shape from. I stamped this piece with the woodgrain background from Way Out West, inked the edges and flicked it with a little spray ink.

I adhered this piece of cardstock on top of another that was stamped with the North Shore image. It is a fun effect and I like the different dimension it adds with the image peeking through the cut out.

I layered my focal point onto a strip of cardstock that was stamped with two mirrored flourishes from the set. They coordinate so well with the image, but could stand alone as two super fancy elements! I also love how these elements really mix up well with the Back in the Saddle and Way Out West sets!

Next up is a little gift card holder. This would be perfect for one of my teenage brother-in-laws!

I started by cutting a strip of cream cardstock longways. I wanted to make more of a matchbook style gift card holder, tall and skinny, instead of a wide one. After I scored and folded it, I broke out my Distress Inks and inked the front up with a green to blue color gradient. I did the same inking to the inside pocket where the gift card slips.

After my inking was complete, I added a quick spritz of water. It reacts with the Distress Inks to give it that great dappled look. The North Shore image was stamped front and center in black ink. Just love it.

I used a little black rubber band that I had laying around to secure it closed. I like using this because you can just slide it down to open the gift card holder.

I secured the pocket closed with a little bit of Scor-Tape. You could easily stitch it or staple it closed, too.

I wanted to go a little girlie with my last card. While the image, to me, has a bit more of a masculine feel, it certainly isn't limited to that.

Definitely surfer girl!

I used my Cameo to cut the coordinating mat for the North Shore image and then stamped it in Rich Cocoa Memento ink. I used some light colored Copics to just highlight a few areas of the image, going for a bit of a bleached look. Then I inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

The card base was stamped with the Hibiscus flower trio from Free Spirit Boy. I can't tell you how much I love that Claire does this - carries images through other sets - it creates instant coordination!

The 'find your wave' sentiment is also a part of the North Shore set - I think it is a fun take on an encouraging phrase.

Along with a more pastel color palette, a paper doily and strip of corrugated cardboard add to the feminine feel. Of course, a little glitter always helps, too.

I hope you have found today's previews inspiring! I assure you, once you get started with this little set, it will be so much more than it first seems! I just love it!

Here is the list of the rest of the Design Team members sharing previews today:

Have a great day - see you tomorrow - ooh, I can't wait it just keeps getting better and better!!

WMS July Release Day 1

Hello, hello!

It is time for another Waltzingmouse Stamps release - so exciting! This month, four new stamp sets are being released. They will be available for purchase in the WMS Store on July 1.

Today, the set we are previewing is called Fairy Princess. It is an addition set to last release's Half Pint Heroines in a fabulous new 3x4 stamp set size!

One great thing about this set is you don't need the HPH sets to use it - it is a complete set (a little morsel of WMS as Claire calls it!) all on its own. If you've never tried WMS before, this might be a great place to start!  I just know you will fall in love.

Let's get crackin', shall we?

Fit for a princess! I love how this image is perfect for a little girl, but could also be equally fitting for a teen or even an adult (so easy to transform this beautiful princess into a bride!).

I thought the 'Once upon a time' sentiment from Half Pint Heroines was a great compliment to this image, and especially fitting for a situation where your 'little princess' is all grown up... prom, bride-to-be, even graduation!

I colored the image with Copic markers and added some glittered highlights with Spica pens. The purple layer was embossed with a harlequin background and my card base was stamped with the gothic text from Text It.

This next card is about as simple as it gets, but I couldn't resist using this adorable frog!

I started by stamping the frog and then I scored a line under him to give him some place to sit. I colored him with Copic markers and added the accompanying sentiment. I rummaged through some other sets to find the perfect sized heart to add to the design. A simple, no-fuss design perfect for your guy on Valentine's Day (or any other time kisses are in order - that is any day in my house!).

The last project I want to share today uses the fairy from the set. I started with a cheapo paper mache box from Michaels and turned it into a special place for the tooth fairy to come looking for a lost tooth.

I started by painting the box with Gesso, and then with Claudine Hellmuth's Studio paints. Then I added some patterned paper to the sides and top.

The fairy image was stamped onto plain cream cardstock and paper pieced with coordinating patterned papers. She is appropriately sparkly, with a glittered crown and wand as well as pearlized wings.

I used the Victorian Alphabet set and a portion of a sentiment from Join Us to put the words together. You could also use a computer-generated sentiment to get similar results. Cute, no? I've got lots of nieces that could use this, I bet.

So that's what I have for you today! Here is the list of the rest of the Design Team members sharing previews today:

Did you happen to see that Bonnie has rejoined us on the team?  Big welcome back hugs to Bonnie!

I can't wait to hear what you think so far! I just love hearing all your feedback on the new sets. I'll see you back here tomorrow, ok?

Hiya!

Before I run off to get some dinner, I want to share my card for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge. Whew, just in time!

It is color splash week!

Here's my card:

A fun little card with some stamps from Studio Calico. I bought these for my Project Life, but look how fun they are on my card! :)

I super love the chevron photo frame. I like how this came together - quick, too!

I am working on projects for the next Waltzingmouse release - Claire has started to share sneak peeks on the WMS Blog. Previews start on Thursday the 28th, and the new stamps will be released on July 1st! Be there or be square! Ooh, and did I mention I have another set coming out? ;)

Later!

Time with Friends

Taking five minutes to stop and share a card with you today.

I made this one using the Folk Art Florals set from Wplus9 along with some goodies from Elle's Studio.

A little bit of stamping, a little bit of fussy cutting and there you have it. I like the banners and button at the top - a fun touch.

All the supplies used are listed below! Have a great day!

Aloha

Hello, hello!

How are things in your neck of the woods? Busy as ever here, but that is good.

How about my creation for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge? Here is the color story.

So tempted to go with the berries again this week after I saw this combo!

I went a different route instead, pulling out Free Spirit Boy and those fun surf boards.

The sentiment is from Free Spirit Sentiments. Would be a fun summer 'hello' card for a friend. I've been pretty good about mailing out things I've made, and I think I know just who to send this to.

So glad that you stopped in to see me today - hope your day is great!

Happy Trails

Hi there! Today is the 17th, and that means it is the Waltzingmouse Blog Party! This month we have a fantastic inspiration photo to work with chosen by my sweet friend Lynn.

Not one to pass up the opportunity for a color challenge, I took inspiration from the colors in the photo. Here is the card that I made.

When I do a color challenge, I like to pull all the colors together - whether it is ink or cardstock - and lay them all out in front of me and see what happens. This time, I saw a western sunset. Way Out West is seriously one of my all-time favorites.

I'm heading out this afternoon to celebrate Father's Day with my in-laws, and then I'll be heading to my parents' house for dinner. I am looking forward to the family time - I hope you have a great afternoon too!

If you would like to play along with our Blog Party this month, you have until 1:30 pm EST tomorrow (June 18th) to link your creation up here. Join us!

CardMaker Blog Team Hop

Hi there!

Today is blog hop day for the CardMaker Magazine Blog Team. Our theme for today 'He's all that' - we are sharing masculine cards! Perfect timing, too, with the upcoming Father's Day weekend.

Here is the card that I made, using the new Fish More set from Wplus9 (which totally fills a niche for me - my die-hard fisherman brother will be getting cards with this set here on out!)

Eek! I just love it! I inset my die cut shapes back into the cardstock they were cut from, a technique I shared on the CardMaker blog last week (certainly not thought up by me, but I just love the look!).

I die cut a banner shape and stamped it repeatedly with the word 'Dad'. Then I added the sentiment across the bottom, aren't the punny sentiments great?

I'm so glad you've stopped by today, please make sure you hop on over to visit the other Blog Team members! I can't wait to check out what these outstanding ladies have come up with!

Anya Schrier - You are here!

Have a great day!

Berry Best Wishes

Hello there. How is Tuesday going for you?

It was supposed to be rainy here all day today, but the sun is peeking out between the clouds. Guess I can't complain about that, huh?

I squeezed in a card last night for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge. I have some new Wplus9 goods that were just waiting patiently to be inked.

I love this peachy orange color for the berries. Just a little different, but so fun!

I started by die cutting the shapes I wanted to use from Vintage Cream cardstock using the Fresh Picked Die. Then I went in and stamped the leaf and berry images from Fresh Picked using this week's challenge colors. I really like these colors together!

I inked the edges of the leaves and berries with Antique Linen Distress Ink and layered them on a circle die cut from Groovy Guava cardstock. The cute sentiment is also from Fresh Picked, I love the font combination.

I layered the berries and circle onto a die cut doily and then onto my card base. I used patterned paper from MME for the base. Some Star Dust Stickles were added to the raspberries as a finishing touch to make it all nice and sparkly.

This card is an example of just why I love playing along with the Play Date Cafe color challenges - I would probably not have thought to pull these colors together, but I really love the result of them all together. Especially with the cute, vintagey berry motif!

Have a sweet day my dears :)

Thanks Friend

I'm tapping into my photo archives to share a card with you today.

This was one of the first cards I made with PTI's Rosie Posie set.

When I stamped the hexagon pattern, I left a space for my sentiment. I just used the end of the stamp and lined it up above and below the space I wanted to leave open. A row of hearts inside the hexagons and a little sentiment from Mixed Messages was just the thing to finish it off.

You could do this in any color combination, and probably just about any occasion, too.  Fun stuff!  Thanks for stopping in!

Follow your Dream

Good morning!

How are you today? Right now I'm enjoying the early morning with a cup of coffee and some blog browsing on the patio with my hubs. Its a beautiful day!

I had so much fun with last week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge that I thought I would join in again this week. I forgot how much I love sketch challenges, and really, any extra motivation to keep me crafting at this point is a good thing!

Here is this week's sketch from MM Edna Morrisedie:

And here is my take. I feel like I didn't do much stamping, but this was a fun sketch for layering!

The patterned paper is from Simple Stories and is just the yummiest, summeriest ever. I bought it for my Project Life, but as you can see, it is making its way onto some cards. I used the Shape Studio Round 25 tool from Epiphany Crafts to make the custom epoxy button. Super fun - have my eye on the banner shape!

Just a little of this and a little of that on this card. It was fun to whip up. Will you join us for this week's challenge? You can link up your creation on the WMS Sketch Challenge Blog.

And let's have a giant congratulations to Vickie, for being chosen as our first Mischief Maker Guest Designer!! Vickie is a regular participant in the sketch challenges and always creates such stunning projects. I am looking forward to her time on the team.

Have a great day, sweets!

Time for You

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you're having a good day. I have a little card to share with you today, another I made based on this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #100. Have you played along yet? There are lots of great things up for grabs!

I used the Afternoon Tea Sentiments set and paper pieced the large tea cup image. Mixed it up with some other patterned papers from the same collection and a chipboard frame. Ah, this is one of my favorite sketches.

This sweet little card is already in the hands of one of my dear friends, along with a tea gift set. Yum!

I hope you have a lovely day!

The Big 100

Well, hello there!

How have you been? I've been suffering a bit from the empty tank syndrome - my mojo is on vacation. But today is a big day - I'm here to play along with the 100th Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! Wow, 100 already! We are celebrating with prizes and the chance to be a Guest Mischief Maker - now how cool is that?!

Here is our 100th sketch:

One of my all-time favorites, I admit... there are some perks to being the one that works up the sketches! ;)

Since I was feeling a little rusty and looking for some extra help to get started, I turned to this week's Play Date Cafe Color Challenge to give me an extra push.

Here is the card I came up with:

I used the delicious images from French Country on my card. Do you have French Country in your stamping arsenal yet? Oh, it is so good.

I hope you can make some time this week to play along with our 100th sketch challenge! The more the merrier, and I mean that literally! The more players we have, the more prizes we'll be giving out - plus you'll have the chance to join the MM as a Guest Designer! Head to the Sketch Challenge Blog for all the details and to link up your card. And while you're there, be sure to pick up our new badge!

Snazzy, huh? ;)

Have a great day!
