Play Date Cafe Challenge #184

Good morning. I hope your week is going well. I am going to keep things super short and sweet today - I am coming down with something and am really feeling awful.

I am here today to bring you this week's Play Date Cafe color challenge. This week's colors are smoky plum, cherry blossom, and lava. Check out this amazing inspiration photo!

I used the very cute Sunny Days set from Verve Stamps for my card.

I appreciate you bearing with me while I keep it short. I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge.

You can link up your creation over at The Play Date Cafe Blog. You have through Tuesday, June 4th to play along. While you're there, you can check out the Cup of the Week prize from the PDCC prize vault, a fabulous prize from SRM Stickers!

WMS May Release Blog Waltz

Hello there!

Welcome to the Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release Blog Waltz. Today, the two new Waltzingmouse stamp sets we've been previewing for the past few days (Country Labels 4 and USA 1776) will be available for purchase in the Waltzingmouse Stamps store.

You should have arrived here from the fabulously talented Laurie Schmidlin's blog. The waltz starts over on Claire's blog, so be sure to head there if you're just popping in.

As usual, Blog Waltz prizes are up for grabs! One winner will be randomly chosen from the comments left on one of the Design Team blogs, so let us know what you think of the new release! You have until 6:59 AM EST on June 1st to leave your comments. The winner will be announced on the WMS Blog on the 3rd.

Today, I have a little mash up of both new sets - Country Labels 4 and USA 1776 - for a patriotic card with a soft country twist.

I love making these strippy cards :)

I started by cutting a variety of strips all 4 inches wide. I like to vary the height on each to give it some interest. The colors sort of chose themselves, and I went with it. Each strip was stamped with an image or combination of images from the two new sets. I added some text background from Text It to help fill in some space.

I finished it off with a little bit of twine and a button to bring it all together. So sweet!

We have the whole Design Team joining us today for the hop, so I won't keep you. The DT members that did not participate in the release countdown will be sharing their inspiration throughout the month, so be sure to keep an eye out for that, especially as your new stamps start to arrive! Thank you so much for your visits and kind words over the past few days. It means so much to me that you stop by and share your thoughts.

Edna will be your next stop along the hop! Take care!

Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release, Day 3

Welcome back!

Today is Day 3 of the countdown for the May Release at Waltzingmouse Stamps. This month, two new stamp sets are being released. They will be available for purchase tomorrow in the Waltzingmouse Stamps store! We are sharing more projects using the Country Labels 4 and USA 1776 sets.

There are two little stamps in the USA 1776 set that, when stamped together, make a star (and of course fit the Star Nestabilities!). If you didn't get a chance to see Claire's blog post yesterday when she introduced this set, I encourage you swing by. The project she made is incredible and included a detailed how-to to put the star together.

Inspired by Martha Stewart's new line of summer housewares, I created this card using the star pieces and other elements from the USA 1776 set. I started by die cutting the largest star nestie. Then I stamped each of the 'legs' of the star and cut them out. You could totally stamp these right on the star, but I'm fussy, so I didn't. I adhered all the blue shapes to the star then snipped all the red stripey ones in half, and adhered half to the star to achieve the look. The background was stamped with a combination of the sentiments in the set. Love the primitive feel to this one.

My second card today again uses the star-building image, but in a slightly different way.

At first glance, I saw a little kite, and so I just went with it :) I think it turned out pretty darn cute.

The little bows are from the Half Baked Gingerbread Joy set. To make the kite, I adhered a little bit of twine onto the back of the kite and then added just a teeny tiny dab of glue wherever I wanted the string to lay. The bows were adhered with dimensional foam tape.

The cute sentiment is from Country Labels 4. I like this card, it makes me smile :)

That is it for me today. Tomorrow we'll be joined by the rest of the DT ladies for the new release waltz. Don't forget it starts a little later.. 2 pm EST - be there or be square! Here are the rest of the Design Team links for today. Enjoy!

Anya Schrier - you are here!

So glad you stopped by! Have a super day!

Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release, Day 2

Welcome back!

Today is Day 2 of the countdown for the May Release at Waltzingmouse Stamps. This month, two new stamp sets are being released. Yesterday, we shared previews of Country Labels 4 - if you'd like to catch up, click here.

Today's previews are for a set called USA 1776. This set is so much fun - it definitely has a traditional Americana theme, but also contains some really great images - like the fireworks!

Classic red, white and blue. I started this card by stamping the fireworks in white ink onto my card base. Then I brushed some Perfect Pearls over them to make them shimmer. On the right angle, they catch the light.

The firecrackers were stamped and cut out. I purposely snipped off the little fuse, replacing it with some embroidery floss. Before attaching it to the firecrackers, I ran a piece of the floss through the coordinating ink pad. Its just a little touch that adds some fun and texture to the card. Rhinestones finish it off.

For my second card, I couldn't resist using the Statue of Liberty silhouette in the set to create a sunset card.

I used Distress Inks to create the inked background. I knew I wanted to add the fireworks in, so I used an overall darker palette than I usually do. I achieved this look by using black at the top, a bit of yellow at the bottom, and two blues in between. I stamped the Statue of Liberty onto black cardstock and clear embossed the image before cutting it out. This helped me to see the outline to cut the dark cardstock as well as to give her some shine on the card. The cityscape was just freehanded... I felt like the scene needed a little something there on the bottom to ground it all.

The fireworks were stamped with Versamark and embossed in silver. Then I went in and used some Copic markers to carefully add some color to the fireworks. I played around with a sentiment on the front and in the end decided to leave it off. 'God Bless America' was my choice for the inside.

That is it for me today. Members of the Design Team will be sharing previews through Tuesday and the sets will be available for purchase on Wednesday, so be sure to stop by tomorrow to see more of the May release. Here are the rest of the Design Team links for today. Enjoy!

Waltzingmouse Stamps May Release, Day 1

Good Morning!
Today I am happy to bring you Day 1 of the countdown for the May Release at Waltzingmouse Stamps.

For the next three days we will be sharing previews of the two new sets that will be available for purchase on May 29. Kicking things off today is a sweet little set called Country Labels 4. As the name implies and following along in the tradition of many Waltzingmouse sets, this set coordinates with the Labels 4 dies from Spellbinders.

In addition to a variety of sizes and patterns, Country Labels 4 also has a few extra images including this sweet little house and the leafy branches. I clustered the images together on the label and stamped a sentiment in the upper corner. There are seven sentiments included, in a font that is just about as cute as can be. It all goes so well together.

My second card combines some of those small images to create a background.

I stamped the cherries and the leaves onto a bit of oatmeal cardstock. The little yellow dots are a teeny stamp from Around Christmastime - its a great filler.

On top of the background, I added a strip of black embossed cardstock. The label I used on this card coordinates with the Spellbinders Standard Circles Small dies. A little stitching and some buttons finish it off. Love this one - so Mary Engelbreit!

We will be sharing previews through Tuesday and the sets will be available for purchase on Wednesday, so be sure to stop by tomorrow to see more of the May release. Here are the rest of the Design Team links for today. Enjoy!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #183

Good morning. I hope your week is going well. We are rolling right along to a long holiday weekend here in the States! Yeah!

I am here today to bring you this week's Play Date Cafe color challenge. This week's colors are navy, school bus, and emerald. So bright and bold!

I used the Quilt Prints set from Wplus9 for this week's card. The outline was stamped in navy and then I went back with the polka dot filler in green.

This week we were sponsored by Elizabeth Mindemann, an independent Close to My Heart Consultant. She provided us with these gorgeous Pearl Badge Buttons to use as embellishments on our cards. I added one to each intersection of my pattern. Wouldn't these be stunning on a wedding or anniversary card? I envision white on white - they are so pretty!

I hope you will join us for this week's challenge! You can link up your creation over at The Play Date Cafe Blog. You have through Tuesday, May 28th to play along. While you're there, you can check out the Cup of the Week prize from our fabulous challenge sponsor, Elizabeth Mindemann!

Thank you for sponsoring us this week, Elizabeth!

I can't wait to see what you create!

Serendipity Stamps Challenge #12

Hi there!

It is time once again for a new challenge on the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog. The challenge this week was Victory Garden - to create a garden card without using flower images. This isn't difficult to do with Serendipity's plethora of fabulous vegetable and seed packet stamps. I have quite a few favorites, but for this week's challenge I pulled out the Pea Package Cling Set, which has a whimsical seed packet and punny coordinating sentiment.

I colored my image with Copics, this stamp in particular really lends itself to some simple coloring. I paired the image with garden-themed patterned paper (those are little smiling peas :) and was happy with the finished product.

Stop over to the Challenge Blog for all the details and to see the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team:

Thanks for stopping by, take care!

Enough Caffeine

Hi there, long time no see!

I apologize for my absence - my husband and I are in the process of shopping for a new home as well as trying to put some sweat equity into our current house. I have had to cut back a little on my card making for the time being, but it won't be forever. I hope you'll bear with me.

I do have a little something to share with you today using some new-to-me stamps from Verve.

Can you relate to this sentiment as much as I can? Actually, I'm not much of an all-day coffee drinker.. I have my one cup in the morning and move on to water for the rest of the day, but its the idea behind it!

This card uses images from the Better With You set. I love all the different elements in this set.. lots of customization options, and the sentiments are really cute.

For this card, I cut the sentiment up ransom-note-style. After I stamped it, I sliced each line into a strip so that I could orient it horizontally on my card to follow the line up of coffee cups. I dusted off my paper crimper and crimped a strip of kraft cardstock for the background.. you know, like the to-go cup liners.. :)

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have a great day!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #182

Good morning. I hope your week is going well. I apologize for not being around very much - there is a lot of stuff going on in the Schrier household.

I am here today to bring you this week's Play Date Cafe color challenge.

This week's colors are maroon, poppy, and soft jade. I love teal and red together.

This week's card was created using the Learning to Sail set from Verve Stamps.

I stamped the sailboat image onto a Sweet Scallop Die cut tag. I colored the image with Copic markers and coordinated it with some patterned paper. I love the way the paper feels like netting... kinda brings the whole nautical theme together.

I hope you will join us for this week's challenge! You can link up your creation over at The Play Date Cafe Blog. You have through Tuesday, May 21st to play along. While you're there, you can check out the Cup of the Week prize from our fabulous challenge sponsor, My Creative Classroom!

Serendipity Stamps Challenge #11

Hi there!

It is time once again for a new challenge on the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog. The challenge this week was to create a masculine card.

I used the Sail Boat image along with the Rest Relax sentiment. I combined the image and sentiment with some plaid patterned paper, bringing in some oceany colors. I opted to leave the image black and white, and left off and frills except for a little stitching. Keeping in simple always works well for masculine cards.

Stop over to the Challenge Blog for all the details and to see the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team:
