WMS October/November Release Day 2

Hi there!

I am back with Day 2 of the countdown to the October/November Release at Waltzingmouse Stamps! This month, 8 new sets are being released, and will be available for purchase in the WMS Store on November 2nd.

Today we have two more sets to share, Vintage Christmas Background and Compliments of the Season 2.

I used both together for today's cards. First up, elegant Christmas.

Black, cream and gold is such a classy combination. The sentiment is from Compliments of the Season 2, a follow up to the fabulous Compliments of the Season. I embossed it in gold and die cut it with a scalloped oval die. Then I stamped the same sentiment in black, die cut it with the oval and trimmed out just the sentiment portion.

This design would actually be quite easy to mass produce if you're looking for an idea for your holiday cards. The background design looks so complicated, but with the new Vintage Christmas Background it was so simple. I'm a big fan!

Next up is some fun with embossing.

I mixed in some of the images from Candy Jar Christmas Fillers with this one. The Vintage Christmas Background was embossed in white on kraft cardstock. The sentiment is another from Compliments of the Season 2, and was also embossed. I love how bold and clear they turned out - these stamps are excellent I tell you!

Well, that's it for me today. Here are the links to the rest of the DT ladies:

See you tomorrow. Have a great day!

WMS October/November Release Day 1

Hello there!

I am so glad to be bringing you the start of the previews for the October/November Release at Waltzingmouse Stamps! This month, 8 new sets are being released, and will be available for purchase in the WMS Store on November 2nd.

We are starting to get in the holiday spirit and today we are sharing previews of two new sets - both of which are fabulously unique. Tapping in to the whimsical western style of Back in the Saddle, we have Yonder Star, a charming western-themed Christmas set. WMS is also debuting a new set size today, a full card size background. Coming in at 4-1/2 by 5-3/4 inches, these clear acrylic backgrounds are going to take your cardmaking to the next level! The first one we're peeking is the Yonder Star Background.

My first card features the outline star/snowflake image from Yonder Star. I started by stamping the image onto a 4 inch square of cardstock and then again on to a scrap piece of cardstock. I used Copics to color the different layers, the smaller blue flake was trimmed out from the scrap and popped up on my card. Lots of glitter was in order to highlight this beautiful image. The simple sentiment is also included in the set. The background (which is just peeking out) was stamped with the Yonder Star Background.

This card gives you a better look at the Yonder Star Background. While I thoroughly enjoy my background building stamps, these new backgrounds are so fabulous! They ink up beautifully and make a super impression. I paired the background with one of the sentiments from Yonder Star. A few strips of patterned paper and some holly leaves from Festive Foliage finish me off.

My last card for today is a little more country. I started by stamping the solid star/snowflake from Yonder Star onto a Kraft cardstock base. Then I stamped over it with the woodgrain image from Way Out West. The peek of plaid is something we'll be sharing later this week. The sentiment is another included in the Yonder Star set. The lace wraps up the cozy feeling of this one.

That's all I have to share today. I'd love to know what you think about the new set and the new background stamps! Here are links to my favorite ladies:

See you tomorrow with previews of two more new sets. Have a great day!

CardMaker Blog Team Hop - Metallic

Hi there!

Today is blog hop day for the CardMaker Magazine Blog Team, and this month our theme is 'metallic inspirations'. Create a card that is shiny and sparkly, Brooke says!

I hope I didn't go overboard! ;)

I combined shimmer ink, glimmer mist, sparkly paper and then even more glitter for this blinged up Halloween card. Its always so easy to go a little over-the-top for Halloween, but it works!

I'm so glad you've stopped by today, please make sure you hop on over to visit the other Blog Team members! I can't wait to check out what these outstanding ladies have come up with!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #153

Hiya!

It is time for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge! Are you ready? We have a selection of yummy colors this week featuring bubblegum, tangerine, and pear.

Here is the scrappy little card I created:

I started by inking the edges of my Kraft cardstock with white ink. I added a strip of pink cardstock that I ran through my paper crimper. It was spritzed with Mister Huey's Calico Shine, but it doesn't show up well in the photo.

I layered a doily on top of that then added the chipboard butterflies. The sentiment is a fun little transparency, and I adhered it with a mini staple.

Now I invite you to head over to the The Play Date Cafe Blog to link up your creation. You have through Tuesday, October 16th to play along. While you're there, you can check out the Cup of the Week prize from our fabulous challenge sponsor, Simon Says Stamp!

10 Minute Craft Dash

Hi there - happy Wednesday!

I am playing along with this week's 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge - and what a challenge it was! I have been a little hesitant to join in the fun, because I am the slowest crafter EVER, and I just barely made it under 10 minutes. Stepping out of our comfort zones is a good thing now and again, though, right?

Here is the card that I made, using one of Wplus9's new releases, Folk Art Flurries. I have heard that some of you have received your new stamps, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you make with them.

I started by stamping the snowflakes in red, twisting the image slightly and stamping it a second time to add a little depth and shadow. The small starbursts are from Iconic Christmas and are super versatile for filling in!

I was literally just under the wire with this one, finishing up at 9 minutes and 57 seconds - truly!

I was going to add a button or some twine, but had to call it good enough. Maybe working within a time frame will keep me from obsessing over every little detail. :)  The challenge ends on the 13th, so there is still time to participate. Hey, you only need 10 minutes!

Have a super day!

October Cloud9 Blog Hop

Hello, hello!

I am so happy that it is time for another Cloud9 Blog Hop!

This month we are welcoming the fabulous Kim Singdahlsen as our Guest Designer. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us this month.

Suzanne always picks the best inspiration photos, and this month's is just so fun! A perfect October photo:

This is what I was inspired to create.

This might sound a little crazy, but I never thought to turn the Label Layers 4 on end like this - I always visualize this image oriented horizontally. I was flipping through my stamp sets looking for something to mirror the door shape in the picture, and thought I'd try turning this one vertical. I like it! And it was sized perfectly for the sentiment from A Pocketful: Halloween.

Be sure to swing on over to the Cloud9 Blog to check out the rest of the Inspiration Teams' creations!

I hope you'll join us by linking up your project over on the Cloud9 Blog. In addition to the opportunity to join us as a Guest Member of the Inspiration Team, you could also win some Wplus9 loot!

I can't wait to see what you create this month! Take care!

World Card Making Day!

Happy World Card Making Day!

I am so glad that you've stopped in. It is a chilly, rainy day here today which turns out to be perfect for staying inside, surfing some blogs, and getting inky! I am participating in today's blog tour, and looking forward to perusing your creations.  Here is the card I made to share with you today:

This card is just full of all sorts of good things from Wplus9.

I used the brand new Quilt Cuts 2 Die and combined it with the largest of the Clear Cut Stackers: Pinking Squares. I stamped loads of flowers from Folk Art Florals and fussy cut them. I layered the flowers over my quilt block, having fun placing them here and there until I liked how they looked.  I so love these rich fall colors and the homespun feel of this card.

I won't keep you any longer, but I so appreciate you taking the time to stop in. I hope you have a great day!

Wplus9 October/November Release - Group Post

Today is the day!

Today all the fantastic sets that have been previewed for the past few days are available for purchase in the Wplus9 store.

I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing previews with you for this release, and I am a little sad to see it end. But I have one last project to share with you.

I combined Pretty Patches: Christmas with the Seasonal Sentiment Die to create this holiday wall hanging. This piece started its life as a blank MDF piece from Michaels that I've had in my stash. I covered it with patterned paper and added a strip of scallops and glitter paper.

The sentiments were stamped onto banners die cut using the Banner Trio Die. I just want to interject... if you have not picked up these dies yet, you need them - trust me. I use them all the time, they are so versatile and I love them.

The seasonal words were die cut from felt. I stitched a button in place of the 'o' for each and adhered them to the house with Scor-tape.

This would make a lovely holiday gift, but I'm tempted to keep it for myself!

Thank you for such lovely comments this week, and big hugs to the Wplus9 gals - now let's go shopping!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #152

Hi there! Welcome to Thursday - time for this week's color challenge from The Play Date Cafe.

It is another Color Splash Week! I hope you'll join us for a splash of plum!

I couldn't help it - this just screamed Halloween to me. And since I am super behind on my Halloween crafting, I jumped on the chance.

Here is what I made for this week's color challenge:

My plum background was stamped with the harlequin pattern from Heirloom Patterns. I like to go a little light on the ink on this stamp on purpose - I love it when it looks a little distressed, which was perfect for this spooky creation.

The skeleton in the frame was cut from a sheet of patterned paper. I die cut a square from the center of some black cardstock and adhered it over the purple cardstock and skeleton with some dimensional tape.

The sentiment is from Hocus Pocus and was adhered over top of my frame. Some black rhinestones accent the fun flourishes.

I hope you will join us for this week's challenge. You have until next Tuesday to link your creation up over on the The Play Date Cafe Blog.

This week's sponsor is Freckled Fawn. Washi tape, anyone? Yum! As always, check The Play Date Cafe Blog for more details about this week's prize.

And before I go, I want to welcome Rachel to the PDCC team! Looking forward to working with you Rachel!

Have a great day, my friends!

Wplus9 October Release - Day 3

Hi there! Thank you for joining me for Day 3 of the Wplus9 October Release. I am so excited to be Guest Designing with the amazing Design Team for this release!

Today we are previewing another addition to the Pretty Patches family called Pretty Patches: Tree.

A coordinating die is available for this set, which I used to die cut the hearts. I stamped a different heart on each - one is from the Pretty Patches: Tree set and the others are from the Pretty Patches: Apple set and the Pretty Patches: Pumpkin set. Gotta love coordination!

I filled in with some snowflakes from Folk Art Flurries and finished it off with a big festive bow.

This very simple card was created by die cutting the Pretty Patches: Tree shape, and backing it with some patterned paper. The sentiment is also included in the Pretty Patches: Tree set.

Finishing me off today is a card using the new Quilt Cuts 2 Die. This sequel to the Quilt Cuts 1 Die also features three different quilt block designs. I stuck to using the star quilt block and combined it with the Clear Cut Stackers: Stars dies to create a fun patchwork focal point.

I started by die cutting the quilt block from four different patterned papers. Next, I adhered them to a piece of black cardstock. I will not lie - this process was time consuming, and maybe a little tedious, but fun in a putting-together-a-puzzle kind of way.

After the quilt pieces were all adhered to the black cardstock, then I die cut it with the largest of the Star stackers.

I combined some other sets to pull the rest of the design together: the checkerboard pattern (stamped first in orange then shifted slightly and stamped again in black - which I LOVE) from Country Charm, the lace design from Mehndi Medallions, and the sentiment from the Pocketful series.

The little starbursts are from Iconic Christmas and were a perfect location for some rhinestone accents. Fun, huh? Renee, I totally thought of you while I was making this :)

Wplus9 October Release - Day 2

I can't get started on today's creations before I sincerely thank each of you for your amazingly sweet words yesterday. Such a boost just at the right time, thank you!

Ok! So glad you have joined me for Day 2 of the Wplus9 October release. Today's set will be a new-found favorite for you, I promise! Iconic Christmas is exactly that - a fabulous set of classic Christmas silhouette images and *gorgeous* sentiments! And of course, there is a set of coordinating dies that makes crafting with this set a snap!

I started with Jolly Old St. Nick!

These images are solid silhouettes, so I thought I'd try being a little fancy and making Santa technicolor. I started by stamping him in red. Then I paper pieced his boots and his list. I used a Versamark pen to selectively ink the areas I ultimately wanted to be white - the trim on his coat, his hat, beard and face. Then I went ahead and heat embossed these areas with detail white embossing powder. I used a Copic marker to roughly add the skin tones to his face.

I split the sentiment up by selectively inking each part before stamping. I so love this font - it is just gorgeous!

Next up is a tag, one of my favorite things to create.

I started by inking up the tag with a combination of blue Distress Inks. Then I stamped it with a background from Defining Words in white ink. Next, I die cut a few snowflakes from the new Simple Snowflake Die to use as a mask. I laid the die cut snowflakes on my tag and gave the whole thing a healthy spritz of silver shimmer.

It is very subtle, you can see it best on an angle, but you can see a bit of the snowflake on the top left of the tag in the photo below.

I die cut the carolers, the lamp post and the wreath before stamping the coordinating images. The wreath is a two-stepper - the bow and berries are separate. Love!

Don't you just want to hug Dawn for bringing this stamp set into your life? I do - I love it!

And another quickie before I let you go... Wplus9 will be carrying these yummo pillow boxes. I jazzed mine up using the Clear Cut Stackers: Stars dies to cut some star shapes out of the box. I tucked a bit of cardboard inside it while cutting so that the dies would only cut through one layer. Then I spritzed it all up, and added some patterned paper to the inside so that it would peek through the die cut stars.

A perfect place for a little gift. These boxes are great!

Here are the links for the rest of the DT - they knocked my socks off yesterday!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
