We have had some serious rain here in Pittsburgh over the past 24 hours and last night my husband went down into our basement to find about half an inch of standing water in our finished (aka random furniture junk storage) room. It appears to just be seeping in from the baseboard. Needless to say, the room had to be emptied and cleaned as much as possible right then. So now we need to try and sort out what we need to do to keep that from happening again - I'm inclined to hire a professional, but we aren't exactly in the position to spend loads of money. Has anyone been in a similar situation that could provide some friendly recommendations? I have faith that it will all work out in the end, but in the meantime it has certainly given me the motivation needed to do some major purging!
Today's card is one I made for the current Embellish Magazine color challenge (with butterflies!).
I stamped the argyle pattern onto a square of Kraft cardstock and then trimmed it down to the smaller squares. The butterflies are from a variety of punches and dies (listed individually below). The Spring Moss butterflies were stamped with Background Basics: Woodgrain and then layered with a Simply Chartreuse butterfly. The finished card size is 5 inches square. Love the pop of green with the otherwise neutral colors. Great challenge, Ashley!
That's all for me today, I have tons to do! Have a fantastic day!

Wow this is gorgeous! I saw that color challenge and thought it was a tricky one but you pulled it off! and the layout is amazing too!
ReplyDeleteThis beautiful Anya. Hope you get your basement sorted out soon.
ReplyDeleteThat happened to us a while ago in our old house. We rented a Jack hammer, pounded a hole in the cement, put in a sump pit and rock and put in a sump pump. Stopped the water right away.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
Gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteI love that layout!
Oh my, that's beautiful! I love the mix of butterflies, and the woodgrain stamp is a cool effect, I would never have thought of something so clever! :)
ReplyDeleteWe used to have basement water issues, and HAD to fix it when we remodeled the basement a year or so ago (before putting in new carpet, Pergo floor, and the Owens-Corning wall panel system). We had Baker's Waterproofing (I think? I can double check with my husband, I think that was the company) install an interior french drain and sump pump. It was NOT cheap, but it has solved the problem!
ooh, love the woodgrained butterflies, what a perfect combination. sorry to hear about your basement! my sister had that happen as well, and theirs was only a clogged outside drain pipe from the gutters.
ReplyDeleteI love your card. I thought you used dp but how cool that you stamped your own background. I love the butterflies. I'm also a huge butterfly punch fan and have all the ones that you listed... and more! hehe! I hadn't really thought of putting them together the way you did so thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLove the card-hate the water. Ours get wet sometimes too and it does help me to purge before they put me on the hoarders TV show! Miss you, Kiddo!
