Good morning, sweeties!
Today I have posted a video over on the CardMaker blog about how to create a sunset background by blending Distress Inks. I hope you will head over there and check it out!
I created two backgrounds as part of my video, one you see above on my Aloha card, and another spooky one you'll need to visit CardMaker to check out.
And, to celebrate that after approximately 24 takes I finally got a video where the dogs didn't bark, the phone didn't ring, or I didn't bump the camera, I also have a little giveaway!
One randomly chosen comment from my blog will win a selection of Distress Ink pads (Scattered Straw, Broken China, and Dusty Concord) and an Ink Blending Tool. Everything you need to get started creating your own sunset backgrounds!
Feel free to share your thoughts about my video, your favorite Distress Ink color, or anything you feel like chatting about! I look forward to hearing from you. I will leave the contest open for the week and announce the winner over the weekend.
Have a great day!

Fabulous sunset!!! Perfect for this set!! Will have to check out your video!
ReplyDeleteI just watched your video. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I have only used distress inks for sponging and distressing edges. Would love to give your technique a try as I haven't been too successful with a brayer on backgrounds. Your tropical card is so pretty and soothing and your Halloween card is right up my alley (Halloween is my favorite time for crafting).
ReplyDeleteI love the tropical sunsets you created. They look so realistic, I wish I could go visit your little island. I have never used the distressed inks but may have to start thinking about getting some. Love the video you did for us. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love silhouette stamps but have been afraid to try making skies. Thanks for the inspiration - I'll be sure to pick up some supplies next trip to the craft store. Oh, and Happy Left Handed Day!
ReplyDeleteFabulous tutorial. All I need is some silhouette stamps and I'm ready to ink.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much,
Lorraine Padden
Anya this is so beautiful! I love the blending of the colors and am off to check out the video you made! Thanks for visiting my blog and for your sweet comment on my "fishing hole" card for the cloud 9 blog hop.
ReplyDeletegreat video. You created an amazing background. have to try it.
ReplyDeleteI just watched the video--it turned out great (and no disruptions--ha ha). Both cards look so amazing--the haunting one is such a cool idea for Halloween. Thanks for sharing your ink colors, too.
ReplyDeleteI have been admiring your sunset backgrounds, so am thrilled that you have made a video. My treat to myself (after completing my chores today), will be to watch it.
ReplyDeleteYour card and the jaw dropping background you created are amazing - you bet your bippy I am headed over to see how you did it like two minutes ago lady!! This is the most beautiful sunset background I've ever seen - amazing! And so happy you are willing to share!
ReplyDeleteso cute and loving the back ground!!! awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that sunset is just stunning. Thanks for also sharing the link to the cardmaking blog! I'm a new subscriber, now!!
ReplyDeleteI needed to stop by after having watched your excellent video. Thanks for that. I am going to see what distressed inks I can come up with, and try one on my own. I did have a question--what would you suggest for someone who didn't have that mountain range/cowboy stamp? Any other ideas? I really like the look of water for the My Island set.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to be staying at this place, beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteYour video on creating this background is amazing! It is very well done, and your voice and explanations are terrific - great job!! I love this card and really want to try making a background like this based on your instructions. Thanks so much for doing the video.

ReplyDeleteThe video was a great tutorial and I love your spooky Halloween card too!
ReplyDeleteLove both of your cards Anya, you make it look so easy in your video tutorial, even my 9 year old lil boy 'who doesnt like crafts' watched it the whole way through and in his words - wow that girls cool, that technique is wicked, have you got some of those distress inks Mommy so we can do some too? I think you may have converted him Lol.
