I have a total crush on this card - I just love how it turned out! The nautical theme is hitting the stamping world hard, and I could resist using this new acquisition for this week's challenge.

So worth the fussy cutting! :)

Groovy Thank You

Good morning, friends. How are you this morning? I didn't sleep well after last night's Downton Abbey. Boy, that was a rough one. Not entirely unexpected, but ouch.

How about a card? I had 15 minutes last night before TV time and challenged myself to use that time to create something quick and easy. I have a handful of old Stampin' Up! wood mounted sets that I kept after I stopped being a demo, and I thought I'd pull out Spring Solitude to see what I could make.

The strip of Oatmeal cardstock was already cut, so I grabbed some ink and got to it. I randomly stamped the flower cluster in Going Gray, then went over the largest outline flowers with a solid image. Not being able to see what I'm doing with the wood mounted stamps certainly adds to the random-ness of the pattern (what did we do before clear stamps?)

I added some stitching to the stamped piece, keeping things simple since my time was limited. As a finishing touch, I perched the little birdie on the sentiment.  I think it adds just enough oomph. Love this!

Enjoy Every Bite

Hi! I have approximately 3 minutes to post this and run! I've been busy, busy.

Luckily for me, I seem to have neglected to write down my supply list for this card, so I'll have to come back later with that information.  Let's just have a quick share today, then, ok?

The stamp is from a Stampin' Up! set, and I think the patterned paper is Making Memories.  I love the funny look on this skeleton's face... makes me giggle every time.

So sorry for the in and out, but its been that kind of week.

There For You

I am so thankful that it is Friday. I really need this upcoming long weekend!

Now that I've got that out of the way, here's a simple card that I put together for my monthly card group.

Before I unloaded all of my Stampin' Up! sets, I put aside a few favorites to keep, and this is one of those that I held onto. I thought just for kicks I'd pull a set out to use. I am spoiled by clear stamps!

The images were colored with an Aqua Painter and ink pads. The sentiment is also from another SU! set - I was always fond of that curly font.

Not much else to say, so I'll keep it short. But before you go, the details for the September Friends of WMS Blog Waltz have been posted. Mark your calendars!

Super quick today - I have been so busy! I thought when I first got back from my trip that I hardly had anything to do. But all these things keep popping up and I haven't yet had time to make it to my studio. Don't give up on me yet!

The tree and birds are from the Season of Friendship set from Stampin' Up! The little flowers were punched with the trio flower punch and I added a little white bit to the center. The chipboard alphabet stickers are from K&Company. I tucked my little tree into a hillside created with patterned paper from the Cosmo Cricket Earth Love collection.

Button Birthday

I can't believe how fast the weeks are flying by! I leave for my trip next week! I've started to gather up a little of this and that, pulling some stuff together, doing a last minute push to get as much work done at work as possible. Things are starting to feel a little hectic, and I haven't had time to enjoy my studio for a few days. I have a stack (yes, a beautiful, new stack) of stamps from WMS that I haven't even opened yet. Its a crime, I tell ya. I hope to find a little time over the next few days.

Anyway, I've accumulated quite a few things I haven't shared with you yet, so that's where today's card comes from. I gave this to my niece for her birthday - again, no sentiment on front so it could be used for anything!

My inspiration came from this project I saw in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini.

This card was easy to make and could easily be done with faux stitching! I used a pencil to lightly draw in the grid pattern and then machine stitched it. The outside was stitched after I removed the thread from the machine. I adhered a button at each junction with a glue dot. I saved the sentiment and messge for the inside.

Three More Tags

Hello, hello!

More tags for you today. These are just so fun to make. I am excited to share today's because #4 is my reigning favorite!

Day Four. Isn't this so me? The trees and moose are from a retired set from Stampin' Up! called Pines. This is one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets ever. I started by stamping the trees and moose and then cut them out. And then I took the plaid stamp from Off Beat Backgrounds and stamped right over top. I love the effect. The background was stamped with a woodgrain and then I added some stitched snow. Love!

Day Five. Easy stuff here! The candy cane background was created using Faux Ribbon. The holly, gingerbread boy, and sentiment are from Oven Fresh - Gingerbread Joy. Little Ginger gets tucked into the front pocket on the tag. Some white Liquid Applique and glitter was added to give the look of icing.

Day Six. This tag was based on a sketch I saw on the Clean & Simple Stamping blog. I really like this color combination and love to add glitter to that ornament.

Autumn Wreath

In the spirit of the season, I want to thank all of you for your daily visits and comments. I am encouraged, comforted, and blessed by you all and for that I am grateful!

I held a stamp workshop back in September and we made these wreaths. I was originally inspired by a wreath similar to this in the current Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog. I started with a 7" styrofoam wreath form and added the leaves with Elmer's glue. I just layered and curled and layered until I got the look I wanted. Aside from cutting all the leaves, it was easy!

You Make Me Smile!

So does this card! I love, love, love vintage Halloween, and these little pumpkins with their silly grins scream vintage to me. They are so adorable!

The pumpkins are from Twick or Tweet, a new Stampin' Up! set in the Winter Mini catalog (these items are available for purchase starting September 1). I stamped the pumpkins onto Really Rust and Enchanted Evening Cardstock. I cut them out and layered them onto a piece of Vintage Cream that had also been stamped with the image. I was a little irritated with the sentiment not stamping clearly but decided I sort of liked it paired with the distressed-looking patterned paper. Does anyone else have trouble using wood-mounted stamps after using clear stamps?

I was practicing my sewing again, stitching three different strips of patterned paper together. I added a few other touches - trimmed the bottom of the image with my pinking blade, added some buttons, and inked the edges. Love it! I think I'll leave this out on my desk so I can look at it and smile! :)

Zoo Baby

Just enough time for a quick post today. My sister-in-law is expecting a baby boy in September and she asked me if I could put together a baby announcement for her. I was honored, and I got to work. She had picked up a stamp set (Mindy's Zoo from Autumn Leaves) that she wanted to use. I thought little boy, and this is what I came up with.

The patterned paper is from a Stampin' Up! retired pack. The colors were exactly what I was hoping - sort of on the 'boy' side, but not overly so.

I stamped the mama and baby giraffes on the patterned paper and cut them out. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Bitty Baby Blessings. This would be easy to switch up colors (or animals - the set is full of cute baby zoo animals) for any theme.

She loved them, and I've been cutting out patterned giraffes ever since!

Reuse It!

The challenges on the Moxie Fab World blog are lots of fun - if you've never participated, you should! The most recent challenge was called It's All Green to Me and as I'm sure you can tell from the name it was about being green!

I pulled one of Serendipty's stamps that I thought was perfect for the challenge!

I colored the main image (from Serendipity Stamps, entitled Reuse It or Lose It) with Copic markers. I highlighted the oceans with Ranger Glossy Accents. The background images are from Papertrey sets (Beyond Basic Borders and Background Basics: Retro). I added some hemp twine to finish it off and that was it!

Fifth Avenue Floral

How many of you are *not* cheering because today is Monday? It is so hard to get started on the week sometimes.

I had a fun weekend spending time with my hubby and our family this weekend and didn't have much time in the stamp room. The weather was just too beautiful and our schedules too full to be inside! So today you're getting another creation from the archives. :)

This project was for a Stamp Camp a few months ago. All products are Stampin' Up! with the exception of the button. I love the way these flowers look layered and this fresh color combination seemed to work well. It is a little difficult to see in the photograph, but the Navy layer was embossed using the Manhattan Flower textured impressions die. Simple, easy card!

You might also notice a few changes around the blog. I updated the font used for the header, etc. Something a little cleaner, I think. Do you like it?

Happy Father's Day

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful day. I had a list of chores that was getting longer and longer since our trip, so today I tackled it (I'm tired!). I also had some time to put together a pair of Father's Day cards. I was doing some blog surfing off of the PTI forum and saw this card that Kim had made. I love her plaid background using the different colors (If you've been here before, you know how I love plaid :) and I liked the idea of using Star Prints for Dad.

Monday Mini

Today's Monday Mini was a quick card that we made at Stamp Camp this month. I was inspired by the set of cards Valerie Stangle made. Here is the card I put together:

The finished size is 4-1/4" square. Not quite mini, but close enough. I changed a few things (size and colors) but kept the frame/leaf/butterfly collage the same. I loved the layered simplicity. Please check the recipe for the details.

In other exciting news, I found a light tent this weekend on clearance at Ritz Camera. A few stores in our area are closing, so I've been eyeing them for a while. At this point, they were 75% off and a steal compared to some of the prices I've seen online! I hope it improves my photos! My husband was incredibly helpful tweaking things (thanks, sweetie!) and I am really pleased with the result so far. There's nothing worse that making a card that you think is just great but having a difficult time getting a good photograph. I also found out that my new May PTI stamps have been delivered! Sorry, guys but I only live a few hours from Cincinnati! I'm off to play!

Anniversary Flowers: CPS 115

TGIF everyone! I am looking forward to sleeping in this weekend! How about you, any big plans?

A dear friend of mine is celebrating her first wedding anniversary early next week, and I thought I'd tuck this in a little gift for her. This is for CPS 115 - great sketch!

And here's my card:

The flowers are from SU! Bella Blossoms and were stamped in Pale Plum ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock. I cut them out, added some Antique Linen distress ink, layered them, and then used my two-way glue pen to add some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The button is from SU! Button Bouquet and is a perfect match for the Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I *love* this color and will be stocking up before it retires!

It is subtle, but I stamped one of the circle images from PTI Simply Stationary onto the Kiwi Kiss before adding the cut out flowers. This was stamped in Versamark and just adds a little something. It would also be a perfect place to use the new PTI Fancy Flourishes set! The sentiment is from the PTI Anniversary Set, Everyday Classics.

Simple and easy! I loved this sketch and know I will be using it again soon - I'm thinking a cluster of stars would be fun!

Birthday Thanks

I am mitchy-matchy. I love to coordinate. I am happiest when things go together. So when my husband politely asked me to make thank you cards that he could send to his surprise 30th birthday party guests, I didn't look farther than the invitation for inspiration.

If you saw yesterday's post with the invitations this should look familiar. This little cutie is 4-1/4" square and uses the same supplies as the invite (the recipe is below).

I whipped out a half dozen of these in no time! (They sat on my husband's desk for a week and a half.. but he eventually got around to writing some words of thanks inside ;)

And now that I have put a bigger dent in my stash of photos I haven't posted yet, I need to get off my hiney and make some more! Its been a rough couple of days.. my mojo is there, just very s..l..o..w. It is my cold. I've got some Mother's Day gifts to put finishing touches on (ok, start) so I'm going to need to kick it into gear.

The Big 3-0!

My husband had his Big 3-0 in February. I have had photos of the invitations I made for his (surprise!) birthday party saved and have never shared them. I thought today would be a good day to do so!

I used a ton of stuff for these, but once I had an assembly line going, it was very easy to make multiple copies. I used a variety of circle punches - I can't remember exactly - but the look could certainly be achieved with whatever you had on hand. I also think this would be an easy card to switch up with other themes - flowers, hearts, even switch up the colors to make it a little girlier. Rosy - CPS 114

Hi guys :)

I have a cold today, so I'm going to keep it short. All I want to do is take a nap. Today's card is for CPS 114. Here was the sketch:

And here's what I came up with:

This stamp set is called Cottage Rose from Stampin' Up!. It has been retired for years, but I love it. It looks suspiciously like A Rose is A Rose...

The card base is Kraft. I layered a piece of Vintage Cream that had been stamped with my new Fiskars Effervescence border punch. The patterned paper is Scenic Route Sonoma. I used my circle Nestabilities to cut out a Vintage Cream and Riding Hood Red circle. I pierced and distressed.

The rose was stamped first with Pink Pirouette and then Riding Hood Red. The leaves are Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive. Everything is inked with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress ink. I love the look it gives images like this. The cream satin ribbon is from Club Wedd at Target. The button is from PTI and the tag is a Cuttlebug die. Instead of a sentiment, I thought I'd add a little heart - that says volumes, doesn't it?
