Happy Wednesday!
Today is my final day of samples for the Waltzingmouse Stamps December release. These sets are now available for sale and I hope you've had a chance to pick some up! Today I am sharing two cards made with the Ornate Ornaments set.
This set contains beautifully illustrated ornament images that coordinate with the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Heirloom Ornament dies from Spellbinders!
For my first card, I did a little paper piecing.
I stamped the ornament three times, each on a different sheet of patterned paper. Then I cut the separate pieces out and assembled them. I don't have the coordinating dies for this shape (2012), but I found it pretty easy to just cut this out by hand. I layered the ornament onto more coordinating patterned paper and added some rhinestones and a fancy button. I like the different look you get from paper piecing this.
For my second card, I used the back of the small ornament stamp to give me a solid background on which to stamp the striped pattern.
I stamped the back of the stamp first onto my Kraft cardstock and then went back in and stamped the front (correct side) in Versamark so I could heat emboss the detailed image in white. For the two outside ornaments, I added the starburst image from Vintage Ornaments (this is out on my desk full time now) before embossing the detail.
A little bit of patterned paper and some stitching and you have a fun, colorful card. I also added a portion of the woodgrain chevron from the Woodgrain Backgrounder Set peeking out on the top and bottom. I love the reverse stamp trick - it doesn't always work, but here it was perfect!
Well that is it for me, I so appreciate you making my blog a regular stop! I hope you enjoyed my samples and they kept you inspired while you waited for your stamps to arrive :)

Great cards, I really like the 2nd one being so long and the stitching on the panel is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteBoth are gorgeous! Love the boldness of the first card, and the soft colors of the second one. Beautiful stitching and beautiful printed papers on the peace card.
ReplyDeletelike them both, the colors are great and the directions I can use. TFS.
ReplyDeleteLove both cards!! Oh...that is so tricky using the backside of the stamp image!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stamps and you have shown them off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ornament cards! I love how you popped up the little detail on the new ornament and added that sparkling gem at the top. The ornament colors on the second match that sweet patterned paper perfectly!
