Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween!

I think you know how much I love Halloween, but we don't get many trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood. So I make sure I put some treats together for my nieces and nephews to help get my treat giving fix.

I used this template from Anna Wight to package up some cute Halloween pencils I found at Target.

These were super easy to put together. I made the box then just layered some patterned paper and added a label made from images from WMS' Midnight Feast. I don't think Allison was too thrilled about getting pencils, she said "Pencils?! We have tons of pencils all over this house." Then I gave her some candy and she was happy ;) She is too funny.

Glad you could stop by - hope your Halloween festivities are downright spooky!

WMS October Release - Day 2

Good morning!

Today is our second day of previews for the Waltzingmouse Stamps October release. Six new sets will be released on October 15th. Today's set is spot-on, super trendy! Fair Isles patterns have been popping up all over not just the paper crafting world, but also fashion and home decor. Claire has designed a set called Nordic Winter, and it is the most fabulous background set featuring these patterns! I can tell you right now, this set will be a staple for my holiday creations.

My first card uses one of the coordinating images from the set to create a patchwork pattern. Stamped and punched out with a 1-3/8 inch square punch, the squares were then layered onto some cream cardstock and stitched together. I topped it off with a bow. I left a sentiment off the card, but could see a cute little tag up top with holiday wishes. It would also make a cute baby or birthday card, too!

My second card was inspired by this photo, which popped up in a Google image search for 'Fair Isles' - this is a great way to find ideas and inspiration!

Here is the spin I put on it.

I started by printing out the Stocking Gift Card Holder (a free template in the WMS store!) onto a piece each of cream and brown cardstock. I stamped a combination of the background images in shades of pink and brown onto the cream stocking. One thing I just love about these images are the detail! If you look closely, you can see individual 'stitches'! I adhered the pieces together per the instructions, putting the cream stocking onto the brown base. I added an extra strip at the top that had been punched with a scalloped border punch and stamped with additional images and a sentiment from the set.

I have so many ideas for this set! I can't wait to have more time to use it, and I hope what you've seen so far does the set justice! It will be a favorite of yours for sure!

Thank you so much for your visit today, here are the other Design Team members that are sharing previews today:

Take care!

There is also a thread for chatting about what you've seen. This month a random waltz participant will be chosen to receive a prize.

I used Eat Cake and Frame It to create a birthday card.

First Birthday Wishes

Gooood morning you! How are things?

This weekend my family is celebrating my niece Tessa's first birthday. I needed a card, and - let's be honest here - I wanted it to be a showstopper. I remembered this incredibly adorable card that Claire had made for one of the WMS Blog Waltzes. As luck would have it, she also created a free template for it. Free is good!

Is this not the cutest thing? A watering can card!

I printed the watering can template onto cardstock and cut it out. I stamped the dotted flower pattern from Picnic Patterns onto my card base and inked the edges with Distress Ink.

I used the flowers from Sewing Box - Hugs (per Claire's recommendations :) and stamped them onto coordinating patterned paper. Using a combination of paper adhesive and dimensional foam tape, I built my bouquet.

I wanted to make sure to call out the first birthday, and remembered that Vintage Banners had just what I needed! Love how this turned out!

This watering can card is just one of a handful of adorable and useful templates that WMS offers for free, here under the 'Freebies' section of the store. Check them out! You could also download one of the free digital St. Patrick's Day images available and then you could join our blog waltz tomorrow! I'd love to see you there!

Thanks for stopping by today - have a super day!

Treats for Your Tea

Good morning!

I am back this morning to bring you the first Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge of 2011! It is good to get back in the swing of things, and I hope you will play along with us.

Here is this week's sketch - nothing like starting things off easy, eh? ;)

This was one of those sketches that I looked at then put away, looked at then put away... finally I turned to the tutorials on Splitcoast to find a template to use. I picked the Gable box to make a little treat carrier. I like how it turned out!

The image and sentiment are from Afternoon Tea and Afternoon Tea Sentiments. The patterned paper is from October Afternoon.

I hope you will play along with us this week and stop back often. Waltzingmouse has some big things in the works and we can't wait to share them with you!

The sketch challenge will remain open until Thursday, 11:59 EST. You can link up your entry on the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog. Top Mice will be announced along with the new sketch next Saturday! Be sure to visit the blog and check out what the other DT members and Mischief Makers have created for the sketch challenge!

Have a great day!

Mother's Day Teacup

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I was busy with Mother's Day festivities, visiting with my in-laws on Saturday and then brunch with my family at my house on Sunday.

I thought a perfect little something for my Nana for Mother's Day would be to try one of Claire's newest additions to the Template Temptations: A Nice Cup of Tea. I have to admit, I am intimidated by templates but Claire's are so fantastic and the results are simply outstanding, so I need to conquer these fears.

I printed my template pattern onto Vintage Cream cardstock and cut it out. I planned out a pattern and stamped before assembling, doing a little browsing of vintage tea cup patterns online.

I used one of the flourishes from Very Vintage Labels No. 10 and the rosebud from Roses In Bloom. I colored the roses with copics and highlighted them with a Spica glitter pen. Then I inked everything with a little Antique Linen Distress Ink and rimmed the edges of the cup and saucer with a silver paint pen.

I filled the cup with a big, fat bath bomb from Lush, which is just the tip of the iceberg. I can't even imagine how adorable cookies or little petit fours would be!

Hope you have a great night, thanks for the visit!
