Sweet Birthday Wishes

Hello there! Today is the Waltzingmouse Stamps August Blog Party. The theme for this month's party is birthdays. I love birthdays! I'm all for a day of celebration (and cake!).

I took the opportunity to create a birthday card for a dear friend, and am quite excited to have the chance to hand-deliver it (which makes up for the fact that its late, right?).

I stamped the background with the herringbone stamp from Little Box Labels. I stamped it on a diagonal, just to mix things up a bit.

The sentiment is a combination of words from Compact Sentiments and Compact Family. I love that it says just a bit more than Happy Birthday - a card for one of my best friends should be a little less formal, after all. :)

I layered the cake and stand from Eat Cake onto the sentiment panel. The flower centers were glittered with Lavender Stickles, keeping with my purple palette.

So excited to be able to give this to her in person!

If you'd like to join us for this month's Blog Party, create a birthday-themed project and head over to the Waltzingmouse Blog and link it up. You have until 1:30 pm EST tomorrow before the links are closed.

And real quick, before I jet off - my little contest will be open for another day or so.  Go check it out, you could win some Distress Inks! :)

Have a super day!

I LOVE that we can custom sentiments to the special people in our lives and not just the generic "Happy Birthday" when someone special deserves so much more!!
Such a gorgeous card and she will treasure it!!:)

  2. What a wonderful birthday card. I love how you made your own sentiment, and your diagonal background is really striking.

  3. Anya's in the house!! Whoot Whoot! Love that birthday cake and that herringbone background absolutely perfect! You make it look easy which means - darn you are good! Great sentiment that will show your friend exactly how special she is!

  4. So beautiful Anya...What a cake, I would love to receive a cake like that, it really looks good enough to eat. And your sentiment, just too clever you are.

  5. So pretty! Love the diagonal herringbone and the sweet custom sentiment!

  6. Love how you used so many of the stamps for the personalized sentiment for your friend Anya - and your angled background looks wonderful!

  7. Hi Anya :: wave wave:: so sorry it's been a while since i peeked in here, but am glad this blog party is giving me a good excuse. I love how you combined two compact sentiments together to make a stunning whole big sentiment. I keep forgetting to look at ways to combine sentiments across my set. The other amazing part is your bg - perfect stamped and the great monochromatic elements to tie it all together. YUM!

  8. Anya , your stamped background makes this card. Love the sentiment you created. Great color choice !

  9. This is so pretty--I just love the purples and how you did your sentiment!
