An Oldie but a Goodie

I spent last night on the couch with Bill watching the Penguins game, so I didn't have time for anything new. I do have a few projects that I haven't shared with you yet, so you're getting one of those today (and tomorrow too, since I have scuba tonight).

I made this tin for my mom for Valentine's Day using PTI's large heart tin with clear top. This is a blatant CASE of Debbie Olson's awesome heart tin she made for the January release. As soon as I saw it, I knew those flowers had to be on my tin. I wasn't even original in my placement! I used different patterned paper for the project, but followed Debbie's instructions for application. The flowers were cut out of PTI SS White using my Cuttlebug and the Flower #1 die. I used the Beautiful Blooms set to stamp my flowers. I've showed you this before, but see how they coordinate? Genius, I tell you! I used SU! Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, and Rose Red ink for the flowers. The leaves were stamped with um.. I don't remember. VersaMagic Aloe Vera and Sage, I think. I sponged over everything with Creamy Caramel to give it a slightly aged look. The rhinestones in the flower centers are from K&Company. Here's a close up:

I filled the tin with beads for my mom (she is making these awesome crocheted wire necklaces - you should see the pretty one she made me... well maybe I'll show you!) and it was her present. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Egg Box

My project for last night was to decorate the egg box I plan to give to my mom for Easter. I had found these cute pastel egg candles at JoAnn's, and knew that is what I was going to put inside. The springy patterned paper was from a LSS and was my inspiration for the rest of the box.

I started by painting the outside of both the top and bottom with acrylic paint. I mixed some colors until I got the pink shade that I liked. I was basing the colors on the polka dot patterned paper. These boxes really do take paint very well. At first it was a little streaky, but after a second coat and time to dry, it had a beautiful matte finish. The inside of both the top and bottom was painted with a light shade of green.

I cut the patterned paper to fit across each side and mounted it on a slightly larger piece of Spring Moss. I attached this and then ran the strip of Spring Moss satin ribbon around the box for some added elegance. I used the same theme for the top, but added a strip of SS White that had been scalloped and paper pierced. The inspiration for these pierced scallops came from a card I saw on Melissa Bickford's great blog. I pulled out my new Maya Road velvet blossoms, added crystal brads to the centers and adhered them using glue dots. I am so proud of myself for using and not hoarding!

The little tag was stamped using the new Boxes, Bags & Tags set. I stamped the scalloped circle in Whisper White Craft Ink onto Spring Moss and punched it out with my Marvy scalloped circle. Two flowers from the BBT set were stamped on SS White in Pretty in Pink, then Celebrate Spring (from Just Hatched) was stamped in Palette Noir. I punched this out with a 1-inch circle punch. The ribbon is from American Crafts and has the same great shades as the patterned paper. I wanted it to apply more to the season than the particular holiday, and I think its very springy! I have another egg box that I am saving for Mother's Day. Target has these pretty little glass votives in all different colors that would be great for my MIL. I think they would fit inside the box perfectly.

Goody Basket

So I'm biding my time until the Papertrey release at midnight (yes, I am a stalker) and figured I could get around to posting the rest of the gift basket. The last item in the basket was this Jasmine-scented candle.

If you've been following along, I used the same color scheme and stamps as for the other pieces. I really like these bands around the candles - they are easy and add a little pizzaz. I put the candle and the 2 Frappuccino bottles in a fabric-lined basket I found at Target, along with a bath poof and a pair of soft, fluffy socks.

I tied it all together with a little tag attached to the ribbon at the side of the basket, and that was it.
I really liked the coordination of everything - the green, blue, purple all on white gave it a clean, fresh look (perfect for bath products!). Everyone loved it and my SIL was very pleased. I had a great time putting it together, and will be sure to do more in the future. Thanks for stopping by!

Altered Frappuccino bottles

I've always loved the altered Frappuccino bottles... so many possibilities! Plus, who doesn't love the initial bottle emptying? (French Vanilla is my fave). In keeping with my gift theme, I filled my bottles with milk bath and bath salts. I used the same colors as in the card and chose sentiments that encouraged relaxation. I used a ton of different Papertrey stamps, pulling out all my sets and picking things here and there. If there is something you see that you would like to know what I used, let me know. That's what I love about those sets - they can interchanged and combined easily, and can be used for so many different occasions. The band around the bottles was stamped just as I did my 'patterned paper' yesterday. Finished them off with some ribbon around the top and user instructions :)
