Thankful Hearts

Happy Friday! Oh the joy of a long weekend.. it is amazing what a difference a day makes! I plan on doing nothing.

Today's card is for Dawn's RSCC Challenge 16. These are such fantastic autumn colors.


Aren't they beautiful? Here's my card.


The background stamp, which is from First Fruits, was stamped onto a piece of Rustic Cream cardstock with Sahara Sand ink. This is one of the closest matches to Kraft that I have! I added some dots here and there with the smallest dot from Polka Dot Basics just to bring in another color and add some interest. I stitched around the edges, then distressed them and inked them a bit.

The bundle of wheat (goodness, isn't this a fantastic stamp? I almost died when I saw this card that Melissa Phillips made using it. One of my all-time favorites) was inked up in Summer Sunrise and then rock 'n rolled with Dark Chocolate. I cut it out, inked and curled the edges and then sprayed it with my mini mister of Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls to give it some shimmer (you'll have to trust me). I added a little rhinestone and that was it!

The card measures 3.75 by 4.25 - just a little cutie that would be perfect at a place setting.

RSCC 15

Hi everyone! Hope your day is going great - I meant to post yesterday, but the day got away from me... it was my birthday! I was enjoying myself, so I'm not really sorry I didn't blog! :)

Today's card is for Dawn's RSCC 15. I was inspired by the non-traditional Christmas colors that are popping up in patterned paper. I thought I'd take Dawn's colors and see what sort of holiday card I could pull off! Here are the challenge colors:

I used Papertrey Ink's Melon Berry, Rustic Cream, Hibiscus Burst, and Spring Moss.

The snowflakes are from Snowfall and Snowfall Additions. The different sizes of snowflakes were stamped onto Rustic Cream in the challenge colors. Then I stitched the Melon Berry and Hibiscus Burst snowflakes to add a little texture (and to give me an excuse to play with the sewing machine again. Seriously, I'm addicted - you can click the picture for a larger version). I added coordinating buttons and stitched a border. The sentiment is from Vintage Picnic Sentiments.

Fab Friend

Hi everyone! How are you doing?
Today's card is for Dawn's RSCC #14. Here are the colors this time:

It is funny, I just made a note of a very similar color combination that I saw in the most recent issue of Country Living Magazine. I really like the purple and scarlet together.

Here's what I came up with, a little fun using Mod Squad.

The flowers were stamped in Scarlet Jewel and cut out. I added some pink rhinestones for a fun touch. The glitter is from Martha Stewart and is more of an icy look than sparkly. That is about it - pretty easy.

So I submitted a handful of cards to Paper Crafts Magazine for their most recent call, so we'll see what happens. I will share my submissions with you over the next few weeks.

RSCC 12!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. My husband and I took a day trip to Ohiopyle, a local state park, on Saturday and enjoyed a cool July afternoon. I will share some photos below - but first, my card for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #12. Here are the colors:

Love them together!

You can click the photo for a larger version! I first inked up the rose buds (that's what I'm calling them) with Raspberry Fizz ink and then rock 'n rolled the edges in Scarlet Jewel. They were stamped separately on a piece of Vintage Cream, cut out and popped up. I added some Antique Linen Distress Ink and misted some Perfect Pearls onto the image (that sparkle never shows up in the photos). The sentiment is from Star Prints, inked up in both of the reds. I added a hint of color to the leaves using one of my new pale Copic markers, YG0000 - Lily White (I ordered mine from Eclectic Paperie). If you need any more info, it is below in the recipe. Mojo, where are you?

Its been a rough past couple days. I am prepping for a stamp camp event this weekend and its just sucking my energy. I'm not complaining, I am so grateful to have a wonderful group of people that come craft with me. I just wish my mojo would help out more!

Today's card is for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge. I tried channeling Melissa Phillips, but man, I was way off.

The image is from an old Inque Boutique set called Birdies. My local Pat Catan's is selling these sets for $5. I've been snatching them up - its a steal!

Wish Upon a Star

Well, I intended this card for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge, but... I didn't read the directions ;) I used white instead of cream. OH WELL. I'll blame it on the fact that I read the post in Cozumel.

But, anyway, here's my card:

And one last photo before I sign off. My husband went to the Stanley Cup Championship parade in downtown Pittsburgh Monday afternoon. Here's Sidney Crosby holding the Stanley Cup! There were hundreds of thousands of people that turned out for the parade. Like I said yesterday, we're happy the Cup is back home! Have a great evening :)

A Beautiful Day!

Happy Friday morning everyone!

I am so excited about our trip! We leave very, very early tomorrow morning and will be diving by lunch! How about that!

I am also excited to have received my Serendipity Stamps last night. I made some time to use them and put a card together for the RSCC #8.

This card uses the Butterflies in Flight stamp from Serendipity. Don't you just love the detail? I love how the images speak for themselves - you can color these babies in (and what fun that would be!) or not!

I added a little something by highlighting the butterflies with Pearl Ex. It gives it some subtle shimmer, but doesn't take away from the detail of the design.

The adhesive pearl was colored with a Copic marker and stuck on a button. It is much more complimentary to the Raspberry Fizz cardstock in real life! I can't wait to have the opportunity to use these stamps again.

Today I am sharing the card that I made for Dawn's RSCC #7.

I also combined it with the CPS sketch challenge for this week (#117).

I liked the format of yesterday's post, so I think I will try that again. If there is anything that you have a question about that you cannot find in the Recipe, please email me or leave me a comment :)

- I love the triple stripe stamp from Let Freedom Ring. I think I could have bought this set simply for this stamp. I'm not the first person to do this, am I? I used it to create my plaid background. Ah, plaid.
- Ripe Avocado. It is my favorite PTI color. And it goes so well with Spring Moss and Raspberry Fizz!
- The sentiments from Star Prints. I love the whimy of the flourish combined with the formal text. Is that the same font as Fresh Alphabet?
- Vintage Inks. I used Antique Linen as well as PTI's Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo. I just love the look (especially on patterned paper!)

I hope you find this interesting and enjoyable - I thought it might be something different than rehashing what I used to make the card. I am certainly no expert, but maybe you'd like to know why I like what I like? Your comments would be appreciated ;)

Life is Good!

Before I show you my card for today, I want to say a huge thank you to Cath Edvalson! She chose one of my cards for the Moxie Fab Rainy Day Challenge! I am so excited to be Moxie Fab!

Today's card combines this week's CPS sketch as well as Week 6 of the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge.

Here was my inspiration:

My card was practically made already! I had to use some of my new Papertrey stuff, and I thought A Day at the Beach would be great with that fun, bright color combination. Here's my very busy, but summery, card:

I created my own background paper by randomly stamping the flip flops and drink glasses in the challenge colors. It might be a little too much for the eyes, but I loved the images together. The beach umbrella is popped up and some Fruit Punch Stickles were added for some fun. I wanted to use every single image from this stamp set on my card - I love them all! My most favorite is the teeny little umbrella for the drinks! It is too cute. RSCC #5 - Pinky Pink!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I had lots of quality family time, which is always nice.

Today's card is for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #5. Fantastic colors! I used them as a starting point to make my Mom's Mother's Day card.

The card base is Raspberry Fizz. I used the Guide Lines I grid sheets and started by stamping an image from Guide Lines Two in Smokey Shadow Ink. The fancy circle is from Butterfly Kisses. This is the second generation stamping for these images - I stamped them off once on some scratch paper to get a lighter look. I wanted them to be closer in color to the printed grids on the cardstock.

Then I overstamped the flourish from With Sympathy. This is one of my favorite images, and I can't wait to see more of the new flourish set being released this month from PTI. The flowers are from Everyday Classics, stamped multiple times in Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst ink, trimmed and then layered. I sponged them all with a little Smokey Shadow ink. I used a Copic marker to custom color the adhesive pearls. This piece is layered first onto Hibiscus Burst and then onto a piece of Smokey Shadow that was punched using the Fiskars Upper Crest border punch. Dark gray (custom colored) pearls adorn each crest. Love this punch!

I loved the final product! The Mother sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages and was stamped in Smokey Shadow. I used a few of the stamps from the Mother set to create my own sentiment for the inside.

I had my Mom and Nana (you saw her card last week) over for Mother's Day brunch. Yummy! We always have a nice time when we get together. I am truly my mother's daughter. We are very much alike, and I can't think of a better person to resemble! She is strong and funny and very creative. She is a teacher, and maintains high standards for her students. She is the person I turn to when I need encouragement, advice, to vent, or to feel loved. She's my best friend, and I don't know what I would do without her.

That is me, mom, and my brother. We like to laugh!

RSCC Week #4

Oh well! Better late than never. Time snuck up on me and I didn't get it submitted in time, but here's my card for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #4.

Who doesn't love these colors together? I love Scattered Showers, and this is another card I had in my head. I thought for sure that 'Showers of love' was one of the sentiments in the set, but I was wrong. No problem, though! All the pieces were there, so I put together my own sentiment. :)

The umbrella is embossed in white onto Dark Chocolate cardstock and cut out. The hearts are from Around and About Sentiments and are stamped in Dark Chocolate. A few are cut out and popped up. There is also some Cinnamon Stickles here and there. It is a little difficult to see, but each of the hearts has a little 'trail' that I made using my paper piercer and then outlined with a while gel pen. The trim along the bottom is from Fiskars' Apron Lace border punch.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #3

Good morning everyone!  I am really loving the Raspberry Suite Color Challenges, and this one is no exception. That Dawn has a great eye for color!

I pulled out the oh-so-versatile Damask Designs stamp set for today's card.  Have I ever said how much I love Fleur-de-lis?  It is one of my favorite designs.  I used the small (I like to think of it as a fleur-de-lis) pattern from Damask Designs to create my background.

I stamped the pattern on Vintage Cream, Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, and Pure Poppy cardstock.  I distressed each piece a little and added to the Kraft base.  The edges were inked with a little Vintage Cream ink.  The sentiment (also from DD) was stamped on Vintage Cream and the end was punched using the EK Success dotted scallop edge punch.  I added a punched out fleur-de-lis and some bling!  If you have some time, take a few minutes and check out some of the other entires for the Color Challenge - they are great!
