Serendipity Stamps Simple Card

Hi guys!

I'm back from our trip to Cozumel and slowly getting back into the swing of things. We had a wonderful time and I have some photos I'd love to share with you. But first, today is a Serendipity Stamps DT challenge day!

This week we were challenged to make a simple, one-layer card. There are a few of Serendipity's stamps that I have been itching to use, and I thought now was the perfect time.

Recently, I have been very enthusiastic about feeding and watching the birds in our backyard. We live across the street from a city park with a few acres of forest and so we get a really great mix of common and not-so-common birds around the feeder. We get different species of woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees.. but my favorite are the finches.

Inspired by these beautiful little birds, I pulled out the Goldfinch stamp from Serendipity and some watercolor paper to create this card.

I used ink pads and an aqua painter to watercolor the image. The sentiment, A Little Note, is also from Serendipity. These stamps are available together along with a spray of little notes in the Goldfinch Cling Set.

I had so much fun making that card that I made another as well.

For this card, I used the Garden Glove stamp along with the For You sentiment (which is on sale here right now!). The Garden Glove is also available in a cling set with a coordinating sentiment. These are great sets - a few coordinating stamps for a great price.

I paper pieced the glove with some pretty patterned paper and used coordinating inks to color the flowers. I can't tell you how much fun I had making these simple cards! It was fun to sit down and just stamp and color. I think a few little cuties like these bundled up with ribbon would make a great set of cards for someone.

I am so glad you could stop by today - thankfully I am getting back into a normal schedule again. Please be sure to visit the other Design Team members to see their take on the challenge!

  1. We enjoy watching birds too and for my son's birthday I got him a feeder like your picture to attract the gold finches. That's our state bird and we rarely see them in our backyard. The cards are beautiful, sure love that bird image.
