WMS March Release Day Three

Well, its Monday morning, but I have more goodies from Waltzingmouse Stamps to share with you, so that makes it a bit better. Waltzingmouse is releasing five new sets tomorrow! Today we are previewing the last two new sets,Vintage Banners and Bitty Banners!

Banner images are all the rage, and your requests for a WMS version have been heard loud and clear!

Vintage Banners is a wonderful large scale set (think Vintage Ornaments) that coordinate with the Nested Pennants and Nested Lacey Pennants dies released by Spellbinders at CHA. Word through the grapevine is these dies will be available mid-March, but the set is very easy to use without them!

Would you like to see?

I wanted to take the look of a hanging, strung banner without actually doing so. So I created an accordian-fold card to hold my colorful birthday banner.

Its like a party in a card (and pretty darn impossible to photograph)! ;) Each banner flag is made up of one large gingham and one medium polka dot banner image. These are so pretty! The gingham ones are just gorgeous!

I used my pinking shears again to cut out the gingham flag. A strip of glitter was added for a finishing touch. Wouldn't this be a fun birthday card for a little one?

Today's second card features Bitty Banners. This mini set is packed with little banner flags of different sizes and shapes.

This card features the long banner, and I used a combination of the solid and outline images. My color scheme came from this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge.

I stamped my sentiment (from Asian Gardens Additions) right inside one of my flags. Once adhered to my card base, I stitched down one side.

I topped it off with a pretty wood button!

To round out my projects for today, I thought it would be fun to make a tag. I used Bitty Banners again to put together my take on the classic blue ribbon!

I started with a tag base that I had inked and distressed. I stamped a whole bunch of the star banners in light blue ink, then again in dark blue ink. I snipped out the middle of the dark blue banners and adhered them to the center of the light blue ones. These would be fantastic for Independence Day!

Once I had assembled my bi-colored banners, I adhered them behind my sentiment
(from Vintage Banners), which was matted with a pinking circle. What fun!

So that's it for today, please be sure to visit the other Design Team members sharing previews of Vintage Banners and Bitty Banners today:

Have a great day!

WMS March Release Day Two

Hello my dears! Did you enjoy yesterday's previews? The fun continues! Today we are previewing Very Vintage Labels No. 18, which of course coordinates with the Spellbinders Labels Eighteen, just released at CHA! This is one of five new stamp sets being released by Waltzingmouse Stamps and will be available March 1.

Let's start with elegant..

Such a romantically styled label! I created a bold (and stunning, if I may say!) focal point by embossing this label in black. This is one of the largest labels in the set and is just yummy. Opting for a black and cream color scheme with just a pop of yellow, I think this would be a lovely wedding or anniversary card.

The resin cameo is actually a pendant, which I purchased from my local Michaels (found in the bead section). Some thick buttery silk ribbon finishes it off.

Now onto something a little more modern?

One thing I really enjoyed about our trip to Indonesia was the elaborate and ornate decorative motifs incorporated into just about everywhere. The jewelry in particular was amazing, and I invested in a few pieces I just couldn't leave without. I've been thinking a great deal about our trip, and this card just sort of came out. While it doesn't necessarily scream traditional Balinese art, it reminds me of Bali.

Both the small label and the decorative floral motif are included in Very Vintage Labels No. 18. I accented my repeated pattern with some small silver pearls and opted to forego a sentiment.

Another of my favorite sentiments from Back in the Saddle.

I used my pinking shears to trim this label, and I love the look. I combined it with an embossed and inked star background and the star background stamp from Way Out West.

To finish it off, I added a big button and flirty bow for a decidedily feminine look. Wouldn't this be a great way to say 'Happy Birthday'?

And now for something completely different...

(I can't say that without thinking of Monty Python)

How about some custom jewelry? This stamp is one of the medium labels from the set, and with some shrink plastic and pigment ink, it became one of the building blocks for a trendy bracelet!

Each label 'bead' was stamped onto shrink plastic and allowed to dry. I cut each of them out and then punched the holes (very important to do this before you shrink!). Finally, I dabbed each with Cosmic Copper Brilliance Ink, which is a pigment ink that sets when heated (and intensifies when shrunk). I strung the labels together with chain and then combined this with a plain copper chain and strand of faceted glass beads. I am working on a little tutorial for you that I will share after the release is over.

The final result! This would make a really stunning (and easy, I mean it!) gift.

So I think I've kept you long enough, please be sure to visit the other Design Team members sharing previews of Very Vintage Labels No. 18 today:

Thank you for stopping by!

WMS March Release Day One

Hi there! Are you as excited as I am that the Waltzingmouse previews have started? Today Claire and the Design Team will be sharing previews of two new sets being released March 1, Way Out West and Back in the Saddle. Guaranteed to make you smile, these sets will have you trading your Keds for some kickin' cowboy boots!

Before I get started, I want to wish a big welcome to Sarah Martina Parker, who is joining us on the Design Team! We've admired her work as a Mischief Maker, and now you'll be able to get oodles of inspiration from her DT work! So glad you've joined us, Sarah!

Let's giddyup, shall we!

Way Out West is my new favorite background set! Here I stamped the woodgrain background and a fantastic Native American border pattern, favoring a worn and weathered color combination.

Back in the Saddle is a jam-packed sentiment set, full of wonderful western phrases perfect your cowboy or cowgirl! The set also includes a few additional coordinating image stamps - here I stamped the guitar image - perfect for a campfire serenade. I accented the sentiment with some silver pearls that I colored with a brown Copic marker.

I really loved the design of this card and thought a feminine version of the same theme would be fun. Especially since the set includes this sentiment, my absolute favorite of the bunch, illustrated perfectly.

Oh I love it! I switched to a girlie color combination and used a horizontal format. This font also has the perfect spots to add some bling!

I loved the look of the off-kilter sentiment.. these sets encourage a little looseness, maybe a bit of a swagger.. just fun stuff! I used the same backgrounds on this card, with the addition of the star border, another peek from Way Out West.

A pair of red cowgirl boots wouldn't be complete without some rhinestones!

This next card features a really fun two-step background from Way Out West.

The mountains in the background and desert landscape silhouette in the foreground are two separate images, allowing you to layer for this super cool look! Doesn't it look like a painting?

I created the sunset look by using Distress Inks. These are just perfect for this application! After I had blended my colors, I stamped the mountains in gray and the desert landscape in black. A simple card that really packs some punch! I left a sentiment off the front, opting instead to include it on the inside and continue the silhouette theme.

You will just love the fonts and styling of these sentiments!

And my final card for today, a peek at yet another background stamp from Way Out West. You'll also get a peek at today's Sketch Challenge!

Here I've used the woodgrain background again - oriented horizontally, but the stamp is big enough to fit vertically on a normal card without needing to match up the ends! Always love that about WMS backgrounds!

So what do you think so far? Feeling a little 'Yee-Haw' coming on? I know it! These sets are so much fun. Tomorrow I will be back with more previews from another set being released March 1. Please be sure to visit the rest of the Design Team sharing previews today:

You Make me Smile

Thursday already!

How are ya? I just had a big lunch, and while I enjoyed the out-of-office camaraderie, I'm stuffed. I have a quick card for you today, something I pulled out of the not-yet-shared file. I am working on my WMS new release projects, so I don't have anything new to share with you - yet! Sneaky peeks have started on the WMS blog!

Kind of clean and simple, I love the argyle butterflies. I'll save all the details for the supply list.

And before I go, some things I've been thinking about...

- A studio reorganization inspired by this post from Ali Edwards and the need to find a home for a computer and printer in my work space (finally, thank heavens)...

- Melissa's thoughts on blogging were a welcome reminder...

- Satisfaction after a completed project - a wall of photos from our trip...

- Another reason to bump this trip up on the list...

- Love these shoes.

See you tomorrow!

My Cup of Tea

Good morning! This week's Serendipity Stamps DT challenge was to use left overs (scraps of cardstock or ribbon, etc.) on our cards.

I always save every last bit of patterned paper and I had some skinny strips left over - I knew now would be the perfect time to bring them together. I love how they look all lined up.

I used the You're Just My Cup cling set, which is one of Serendipity's new releases. I paper pieced the teapot on the front and added it to my card along with some bits of twill and crocheted lace.

I didn't want to add to add anything else to my very busy card front, so I added the sentiment and little coordinating teacup to the inside. Cute stuff!

I'm so glad you stopped by today, please be sure to visit the other Design Team members to see their take on the challenge!

Textured Birthday

Hi all!

Right after we got home from our Indonesia trip, my Bill had his birthday. It was a bit of a whirlwind prep, as my mojo was still out to sea, but I pulled this little card together for him using some things I had out on my work table.

I stamped a strip of Kraft cardstock with the Happy Birthday sentiment from Lizzie Anne's Vintage Birthday (I love this font). Then I punched the stars out of the cardstock. Another strip of cardstock that had been stamped with the herringbone pattern from Timeless Textures was tucked behind. I layered this on some patterned paper from October Afternoon. Glad my mojo has woken up a bit since then!

Good to see you here today, tomorrow I have another Serendipity Stamps challenge to share. Hope to see you then!

LAD February DT Challenge

Good morning!

I am here today to share the February Design Team Challenge from Lizzie Anne Designs. This month we were challenged to choose a card from the Lizzie Anne Sketchbook designed by another DT member and design a new card based on that one! Whew!

I picked this awesome card from Kendra:

I loved the overlapping patterned blocks, and took that theme and ran with it. Here's the card that I made, using the frilly hearts from the Lucky in Love Mix Set.

The hearts were stamped on patterned paper, the squiggley one is one of my favorite stamps from the new Timeless Textures set. The classy sentiment is from Perfect Phrases.

Thanks for stopping to visit me today, be sure to head over to the Lizzie Anne Designs blog to see what the other DT members created for this challenge. Have a great day!

February WMS Blog Waltz

Good morning, waltzers! Welcome to the February Friends of WMS Blog Waltz.

If you want to waltz along with us and you haven't yet linked up your project, head to this thread in the WMS Forum to link up your creation and view the other participants. There is also a thread for chatting about what you've seen and participating in our little contest! This month's Waltz competition is to guess the subject of one of the stamp sets being released in March (previews start Feb 26th!). The participating DT members each have a one-word clue on their blogs. Once you see all of them, you should be able to guess! A correct guess could win you a stamp set of your choice!

This month our theme was designing with buttons. Really, what isn't there to love about buttons? Here is my card, with buttons standing in for flower blossoms.

The background flower and stem pattern was created using some little accent stamps from Pic-Nic Patterns. The sentiment is from Say It With Style. I enjoyed sorting through my buttons, such a wide range of shapes, sizes, and colors!

Have fun waltzing! Don't forget to head back to the WMS Forum to chat and join the contest.

So glad you could stop by today - don't forget the clue!!

Garden Flowers

Good morning! I am here today to bring you the first Serendipity Stamps DT challenge of the year. Our challenge this week was to create a black and white card. I bent the rules right off the bat and used cream instead of white! :)

I used the Marigold Seed Packet image on this card, one of my favorite Serendipity stamps. I think black and cream are a great vintage combination, it makes me think of yellowed book print or old packaging.

I paired my seed packet image with patterned paper from October Afternoon. The trims are a bit of this and that accumulated from the fabric store. So much depth for only two colors! I'd love to do this again and add a pop of yellow or red.

I'm so glad you stopped by today, please be sure to visit the other Design Team members to see their take on the challenge!

Balm of Friendship

Happy Tuesday, friends! It is a sunny, but cold, day here in the 'Burgh. I miss the warm!

Today I'm playing along with this week's Play Date Cafe challenge. I need to start participating in more challenges .. it helps to keep me motivated. The PDC challenge for this week was a beautiful mix of soft and shabby.

I particularly loved the snippets of text in these pictures, and it reminded me of Waltzingmouse's Rescue Remedies set.

Pretty pinks and creams on this one. The vintage product advertisements are from a shopping bag that I saved (it was an inspired moment) - it has been handy! The card base was stamped with Text It.

Glad I could sneak in to see you today, I will see you again tomorrow! Have a great day!

Love Potion

Hi there! I'm back!!

So sorry to desert you like that! We went on our trip and then came back and things were busy and I was so tired! I think I'm finally getting back into a 'normal' schedule, but I was barely making it to 7:00 pm without falling asleep!

Our trip was so wonderful, just an amazing time. I will share some photos but first I want to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day! Here's a fun little card I made using the Lucky in Love Mix Set from Lizzie Anne.

Each of my little potion bottles was colored using Twinkling H2O's, so they are very shimmery! This is really a fun set to create with, with lots of other cute images.

And now, if you'll indulge me, I'd like to share some photos from our trip. Bill and I traveled to Indonesia for two weeks, to explore the culture and to do some scuba diving. We spent an amazing week at the Wakatobi Dive Resort, with time before and after in Bali (our International connections were via Denpasar). We traveled with a group of six other divers from Pittsburgh, friends we've gone on trips with before. All the photos were taken by Bill, and I cannot emphasize enough how fantastic they are. He was able to capture so many different things about the trip - not only the images themselves but movement and feeling. Looking at these pictures is really an experience for me. Please do yourself a favor and click over to his blog to catch up on his posts about the trip. He is doing some critical photography stuff, but he also has some great summary posts about the things that we did on the trip.

That photo won 'Photo of the Week' at Wakatobi! :)

If you're interested (and have a few hours!) check out the full set of photos from the trip in our Gallery.

Thank you for sticking with me while I was gone and readjusting to my own time zone. I am feeling back in the groove and looking forward to sharing more with you here! In fact, this is a busy week here on the blog so I hope to see you around!

Have a great day!

Colorful Birthday Wishes

Good morning my friends, how are you today?

January was a popular month for birthdays, and I have another birthday card to share with you today.

I opted for clean and simple on this one, a nod to the sweetie I sent it to, who has a fantastic clean and simple style. I wrapped the card front with some cheery-hued baker's twine and then added coordinating buttons. I stamped the sentiment from Fancy Phrases, rounded the bottom corners, and called it a day!

Have a great day!
